Celebrate the Paperweight 2012 was a wonderful success!

The Glass Paperweight Foundation made history at the Art Institute of Chicago on September 28, 2012 when the Clark family and Larry Selman cut the ribbon that unveiled the newly expanded Rubloff paperweight exhibit.

With over 800 weights, the new cabinets and improved lighting made the collection simply sparkle. As one person said, "it is like being inside a jewelry box!"

Attendees enjoyed a private cocktail party on the grand staircase, followed by a regal dinner in the restored Chicago Stock Exchange Room housed within the museum. We were treated to entertaining stories about Mr. Rubloff and famous paperweights in history by Larry Selman and Dwight Lanmon, the retired Director and Curator for Corning Museum of Glass.

On Saturday there was a full day dedicated to paperweight artist presentations and artist-direct-to-client sales from many of the world's best contemporary paperweight artists. 

Then later that evening we enjoyed a unique evening at the Driehaus Museum with cocktails, entertainment, a glorious dinner and a private exhibit of some very rare paperweights on loan from private collectors.

And, as promised, net proceeds from ticket sales to the event were donated by L.H. Selman Ltd. to the International Paperweight Society Foundation, a non-profit organization chartered to expand the awareness and enjoyment of paperweight collecting.
